Who I am
Hi, I’m Nathan Solomon, an aspiring sound designer and recent graduate with honours from the Vancouver Film School Sound Design for Visual Media program.
Sometimes it takes a while for our 20-something selves to figure out what our 10-year-old selves had known all along, but before realizing I wanted to pursue a career in sound, I always knew I wanted to do something creative. It’s obvious to me now, but when I was growing up, it hadn’t occurred to me why I was so drawn to classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons. It was the sound effects. Now I’ve become that annoying friend that won’t shut up while watching a movie, pointing out the great foley or the little mistakes I notice.
You may get satisfaction from bowling a strike, or maybe when you nail every note of a ridiculously hard solo, but for me I love the satisfaction of nailing that difficult dialogue edit and making it sound seamless and natural.
I am ready to dive into the industry with passion, hard work, collaboration, an eye for detail, and the drive to help clients achieve their storytelling vision through technical skills and creative sound design approaches. I am eager to learn, contribute, listen, explore, create, make people laugh, make people cry, make you look-and sound-good, drink lots of coffee, and have fun along the way.
